I have downloaded a movie and when I play it I get audio but no video… I have looked through the help and how to pages but I haven’t seen anything like this.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks!
Since you didn’t specify which video type you have (there are dozens), I can only guess that you need to update your codecs…
(CCCP are the safest for novice users)

if you select the k lite pack, don’t just install all the options, or you will surely have problems (default settings work fine for nearly every user)

You didn’t say which program you were using to view the video.
I use VLC and when I first started using it, I had exactly the same problem.
I eventually found a cure. Right click on the VLC desktop icon. Select ‘Properties’ from the dropdown menu. Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab. Finally tick the ‘Run in 640x480 screen resolution’ box
That worked for me. Apart from the split second horror of the screen blacking out before changing resolution … everything works fine.
