Everytime I try to run Bitcomet it works fine untill the “Would you like to visit bitcomet.com to see the new features?” box pops up. Then the program freezes completely and goes into Not Responding. I’ve tried uninstaling and reinstalling but that did not work. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Use stable versions (.70 is preferred, .64& .63 seem to be stable too). Check that BitComet → Options → Preferences → Advanced → Check for updates… is turned OFF.

I tried to do that but, you see, the box pops up before I can change that option. And when the box pops up it freezes.

Well, let’s assume it works fine for a couple of seconds then 
Close BitComet. Open <dir_where_you_have_BitComet_Installed>\BitComet.xml file with Notepad and make sure you have “0” in “” section there.
Not sure how it happened, but the program closed with the box still on my screen. I was able to click on it and now it runs fine. Thanks for the help.
