Extensions tab troubles !

Hi again,

I’ve noticed that under Tools, Add-ons, Extensions tab is empty and I have a lot of add-ons installed on CB. When surfing with CB, at the bottom of this page, I can see all add-ons and under Tools, but, I can’t under Extension tab. How to solve this trouble ? Anything to do with “about:config” ?

The second trouble I encounter is that when typing in the address, letter appearing is very slow, so that, I have to stop writing to wait for the letters display. What happens ?

All these troubles are under my User Account.

I don’t have any troubles under my Admin Account.

For the first trouble, I solved deleting extension files in the profiles folder and re-upload CB.

I need still help for the second issue, thanks.

This typically happens when your computer’s very busily doing something in the background, at high priority. You should download and install Process Explorer (free) to keep an eye on what’s going on with your system, what’s running and whether you want it running, etc.

ashanta,

About your second trouble, it could be caused by a lot of things, but I guess it may be caused mainly by one of these two things:

■ Web feeds at the Bookmarks Toolbar. Do you have many web feeds at the Bookmarks Toolbar? The more web feeds you have at the Bookmarks Toolbar, the more time CometBird will need in order to load (update) every Live Bookmark when you run CometBird once a hour (CometBird reads/updates the web feeds every 60 minutes by default).

■ The CometBird’s bookmarks DB. Both Mozilla Firefox and CometBird use SQLite as database for your bookmarks, history, cookies and forms. While the times goes on, the database begins to frag, and the web browser itself can’t defrag it. So, SQLite DB begins to grow up and CometBird comes to be slower, as all the data are spread and not together next each other. You have two workarounds:

• Download and install Defraggler. Defraggler is an excellent program that defrags any drive (your hard drive or any flash drive). It’s really easy to use. All you’ve got to do is run the program, select the (C:) drive (supposing you have CometBird installed on your C: drive) and click the Analyze button. When Status shows Analysis Complete check how percent your C: drive is fragmented. If this’s 20% or more, you’d better defrag it. It takes a while, so DO NOT RUN ANY OTHER PROGRAM WHILE DEFRAGGLER DEFRAGS YOUR HARD DRIVE. Let the program works lonely and go taking a shower ;). When done, reboot your computer and try typing on CometBird. You should see a big difference. You should defrag your entire hard drive once a month at least.

• The other workaround is to download and install a small software called Inifox, which run the SQLite VACUUM command by batch. Inifox also defrags data, but only from Mozilla Firefox and any other web browser based on this (like CometBird, of course). Inifox works so d*** great, but I have to advice you: this is not an official program from Mozilla nor from CometNetworks, it’s done by hackers (NOT crackers, fear not) and it’s just amazing.

If you want to install Inifox inside CometBird, you have to follow one of the next paths, depending on what Windows version you’re running:

· WINDOWS XP:

C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\CometNetwork\CometBird\Profiles[profile-id]

· WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\CometNetwork\CometBird\Profiles[profile-id]

The [username] is your Windows username. The [profile-id] is actually a random alphanumeric string, followed by .default. For example: ly5ss59j.default.

Well, you have to download the IniFox v 1.2 by InfoSpyware.rar file and uncompress it. You’ll find a folder with just two files: IniFox_v_1.2_by_InfoSpyware.exe and sqlite3.exe. Copy both files and paste them INSIDE the [profile-id] folder, where you’ll see that there’re several files with the .sqlite extension. Once you pasted them, doble click on the IniFox_v_1.2_by_InfoSpyware.exe file and a DOS window will pop up. Just press any key to continue. After the compress results, press any key again to exit. Repeat the doble click on the IniFox_v_1.2_by_InfoSpyware.exe file every four or five months for better results. You’ll surprise how good this works… B)

You can do this with other web browsers using Mozilla Technologies:

Mozilla Firefox (of course :D)

· WINDOWS XP:

C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles[profile-id]

· WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles[profile-id]

Flock

· WINDOWS XP:

C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Flock\Browser\Profiles[profile-id]

· WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Flock\Browser\Profiles[profile-id]

Wyzo

· WINDOWS XP:

C:\Documents and Settings[username]\Application Data\Radical Software Ltd\Wyzo\Profiles[profile-id]

· WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Radical Software Ltd\Wyzo\Profiles[profile-id]

If you have doubts about this, you can always can ask the BitComet Development Team’s pro guys, they can help a lot more and give suggestions to you.

Hope this helps!

Best regards!

UPDATE

I clean forgot: when you install and run the IniFox_v_1.2_by_InfoSpyware.exe file, you do not have to run the web browser from that folder. In other words, if you are installing IniFox at the CometBird’s profile folder, do not run CometBird at the time. Run CometBird just when you’re done.

cassie,

Thank you very much for that notification. I really didn’t know it. Sorry. I already removed that word. Thanks again.

The word d.a.m.n. was censured…?! Geez…
