FAT

Hi! can anyone help me with a program that splits a movie file, fat only allows you to transfer max 4gig.

Many thanx

FAT32 can only store files that are less than 4 GB in size. It has no restrictions on the amount it will transfer.

Splitting a file is rarely a good answer. Even if you are using, say, Win98, there are utilities for it to let you read, write and format an NTFS partition. That would be a better way to deal with larger files. Whatever, it’s really past time to upgrade to NTFS.

If you just have to split the file, remember that you need to split it at keyframes boundaries, otherwise parts will be lost. The free tool VirtualDub will easily do this.

I’m guessing you’re using a gaming console to play video?

When it comes to playing video, gaming consoles do one thing really well, and that’s playing video games, not watching video. I recommend you get a media player like Mvix Ultio Pro or Western Digital TVlive.

Also you might want to take a look at torrents that mention QEBS. These are compressed Hi-Res movie files and are sized below 4GB to play on consoles. ( Thank you to TUUS for the heads-up on that  )

Here are some screenshot comparisons between FASM QEBS 4GB encoded compared to another popular 4GB encode and a 20GB scene release.

The quality is amazing for the size
