How to open partially downloaded torrent on another computer?

I come into this situiation every once in a while: I will start downloading a torrent on my desktop, but then want to contiue downloading on my laptop. How do I resume this torrent on my laptop, so that I don’t have to start all over downloading the torrent?

I tried just copy and paste over to the laptop but that doesn’t seem to work.

Copy the torrent data into the laptop’s default download directory.

Copy the torrent file to the laptop and load it.

Stop the torrent, make sure it’s pointing to the partial downoad, and do a manual hash check on the data (should take some time to finish)
