How to prevent BitComent from sending real IP address

I have received a couple MPAA warning letters from my ISP so I subscribed to a VPN service (CryptoCloud) thinking that my ISP IP address would not be visible at the other end; only the IP address that my VPN presents to traffic to/from the Internet.

I think that BitComet is sending the ISP address out which means that that bogus 'peer’s out there see my real IP address.

Any suggestions?

btw, I’m running WinXP SP3, behind a router which connects to my ISP thru a cable modem.

Based on what, do you think that?

If you really use a VPN connection, then ALL the applications on your PC should use the IP of the VPN adapter while the VPN connection is on, BitComet included (you should see the IP of the VPN adapter in the lower right corner of BitComet, instead of the IP leased to you by your ISP).

The problem with VPN services, is that most of them don’t forward incoming connections by default (except those who have P2P or similar things in mind: e.g. IPredator and the likes of it), so you will end up with a blocked listen port.
