i have the same problem , it shows that there is no progress and i can’t connect to any one but if leave it like that for a while then u stop the download and do a hash check u will see that a progress has been made ???
i tried to reinstall the program and i couldn’t replace bitcomet.exe although i exited the program
i think that there is a virus using the bitcomet.exe and that is why i can’t replace it.
There’s no virus, you may be trying to exit via the X button of the window, as that by default only minimizes it to the notification area, but I can’t tell you that for sure. Check and see if the process still exists in the Task Manager. If it’s not there, google for an app called “unlocker” and use that to delete the .exe
Even if you use the “Exit” command, if there are multiple tasks running it may take a little time before BitComet writes the .xml files for all the currently active downloads and performs all the other operations needed in order to close gracefully.
The more tasks you have, the more it will take usually. Once you’ve seen the green icon in the systray area disappear and/or you’ve seen the process disappear from Task Manager then you can hit “Retry” and you’ll be able to reinstall.
For the first part of your issue I suggest that you post some screenshots where you outline your problem since you’re not being very clear.

What are you trying to download? we can’t read minds so your going to have to tell us
but if leave it like that for a while then u stop the download and do a hash check u will see that a progress has been made ???
This too makes no sense. Why would you do a hash check if nothing was downloaded?
i tried to reinstall the program and i couldn’t replace bitcomet.exe
Why would “you” try to replace bitcomet.exe?
although i exited the program
What does exiting the program have to do with this?

There is no need for you to “replace” bitcomet.exe, and if you tried to do this (can’t imagine why you would), windows user account controls would probably stop you, depending on what windows version you’re using… Which you failed to tell us… which brings up my next point.
We have a topic called…
READ THIS before posting
The 30 seconds that it would take you to read it could have actually gotten you help, and stopped you from wasting your time (and ours).
When we see posts like this, just direct them right to the “READ THIS” topic, and get them to explain. Don’t try to assume what they are trying to say. This “rant” could mean many things and it only make us look foolish if we assume we know what he is talking about. I know I sure as h*** don’t have a clue, but I suspect he is trying to replace bitcomet.exe (program file) with bitcomet.exe (setup file) instead of installing it??? sounds crazy, but so does his entire post.
About the “replacing” part, I guess that he’s referring to the fact that when you try to reinstall or upgrade BitComet while it’s running the installer will automatically try to close the program first (logically).
But (as it always happens to me) if you have a lot of tasks running, it will actually take quite a long time before BitComet writes all its files (at least to me this happens always on exiting) and the installer will pop up a dialog saying that it can’t overwrite the bitcomet.exe file.
You’re given the choices to “Ignore”, “Retry” or “Abort”. All it actually takes is for you to wait for BitComet to finish all that it’s doing (exit gracefully) and then hit the “Retry” button; the installation will proceed further without any problems.
But of course that’s my best guess of what he may mean.
I’ve never seen that error message, but then I’d never try to install a program while the prior version is still running. As for this guy, gathering information should be our first step, then if we do offer advice based on assumptions that we add some type of disclaimer, such as…
Without being provided the basic information for making a support request, the best I can offer is a possible solution. Allow bitcomet a few minutes to shut down before trying to reinstall. To confirm it’s shut down, open task manager and look on the processes tab and find bitcomet.exe. If it is still listed there, that means it hasn’t finished shutting down, and you have two options. You can wait longer, or you can use task manager to kill the process, however this method may lose some of your task data, but none of your downloaded files will be lost.
Thats just one example, but I’m sure you can agree that posting a clear definite solution to a very unclear problem isn’t going to help anyone who reads it, and may not even help the original member who made the post.
It would be nice if we could have a support ticket system where a person has to fill in a form and submit it. I don’t know if anyone has done something like this with ipb systems. I think I might ask some admins I know if they know of one.
