When I run the installation file it only get a security warning and when I press “Run” nothing more happens.
I am running ComitBird 3.5.5, Windows 7, 64 bit and downloaded the installation file from apphit.

Do you mean an User Account Control warning or what?
What antivirus or security suite do you use?
Please check the event log of Windows (Application, System, Antivirus) for any events which occur at the exact time when you attempt the installation.
Also keep open the Task Manager and check if upon starting the installer the process gets created and subsequently gets killed or if it simply hangs.
Yes, I mean the UAC. I need to press run there.
I am using avast! 4.8 professional virus scanner, only one that works well under 64 bit Windows.
Not much in the event viewer.

Well, that’s not a very clear answer to my question.

That’s what you were supposed to see in the process list, not “much”.
What version are you trying to install?
Try disabling UAC before installing and see what happens.
I saw the process start and go away in process explorer. See attached screen shoot.
It then goes away after a while.
Trying to install 3.5.5
I will try to disable UAC now requires a reboot of my system.

Yeah, I can see now that we’ve been talking about different things. I was under the impression that you have problems with your BitComet installer.

It seems to work in my VMware Windows 7 64 bit.. but not on my host OS.
Downloaded again from the official release.. works now.. was a bad file from Apphit
