What is wrong with my bitcomet? It’s only downloading around 25 kB/s. Before it was like 100 kB/s.

You don’t have to do that to explain your problem.

About your problem:

  • seeders/leechers ratio

  • local/remote connections

  • percentage downloaded of your peers

Well… lol.. sorry for posting the IP, anyways. We recently (yesterday) changed our modem. Gosh, I actually don’t know that much about those things here ('cause I am not in my homecountry), so I didn’t quiete get what kind of a connection it is. DSL. Yeah. What do you need to know to help me?

It doesn’t matter, Teresina. Just wrote it to help you a little. Well, now to the point.

What kind of connection do you have. Open the BitComet window and click “peers”. Are they mixed “local” and “remote”? Probably not, since you wrote that you’ve a new modem.

You have to forward your listening port. Study at your new modem manual to do that.

I clicked on ‘peers’ and yes ‘local’ and ‘remote’ are mixed. Is that a bad thing to be?

No, this is good. You need a mixture of local and remote connections. It also tells that your modem/router has port forwarding set.

Listening port settings can be found on the first page of “preferences”.

If you have remote peers, you don’t need to change your settings or worry about port-forwarding (whose object is to get those selfsame remote connections.)

Torrent speed is heavily dependent on the composition of the swarm. Lots of peers, lots of seeders = fast speeds. Few peers, few seeders = slow speeds. That’s not under your control.
