Muchas gracias, saludos!!!
Hello !! How is everyone?
I came across a problem with BitComet, as a yellow light appears saying that the listening port is blocked. I have Fibertel (Argentina) and a TP-Link 54m wireless router.
I never had problems [before] with the yellow light. To configure it I would go to Advanced Settings/Forwarding/Virtual Servers and would enter the LAN address in the port to be opened…and the light would turn green.
What has happened is that now, in BitComet, it doesn’t show the LAN address in yellow but the WAN address, and I don’t know how to ‘activate’ the port for this address. What’s most weird is that I haven’t touched anything, nor configured anything in the computer.
I’m not sure but it sounds like the LAN ip address changed. If it’s not static it can change when you reboot, or in some cases if the static IP is not available it will switch to dynamic address in order to connect. See if you can confirm that the IP has changed and if so it’s just a matter of changing the address in the portforward setup on the router.
I could be wrong about this because there are parts of this message that google cannot translate
Sorry, but I just received some bad news tonight - my friend’s husband has suffered a heart attack - and I’ve just come back, from their house, with their 11 year-old son and his kitten, and finished putting them down to bed, just a short while ago.
I’m honestly having a hard time attempting to make my words hold any sort of meaning… so, give me a day or two, please, to try and “get it together” and I promise to come back and reply with what you’ve said.
Sorry, TUUS, but I can’t concentrate very well, ATM.
The port check in Bitcomet always shows the WAN address, this has never changed. If your port was open then suddenly is blocked the most common cause is your LAN ip address has changed. We recommend setting up a STATIC lan ip address so this won’t happen, if you don’t do this your lan ip could change when you restart the computer and you’ll need to change your portforward settings in your router to match the correct lan IP address.
Just follow the instructions for your router and change the IP address in the portforward rule to match your current lan ip and it will fix the problem. You may have to repeat this step again if you restart your computer and the port isn’t open, to avoid this you can setup a static IP address in windows.
thank you cassie! and thank you unusual suspect! I did change the portforward rule to my current lan ip adress and it worked
One last question, how can I set a static lan ip adress for my pc? And if there is any problem by doing that? I have cable modem Internet and a TP-Link wireless router
¡Gracias Cassie! ¡Y, gracias The UnUsual Suspet!
It’s different for every windows version which is one of the reasons we require members to post the version of windows they are using. It prevents a simple solution from taking days to resolve.
Since I don’t know what version you have it would probably be faster to refer you here…
It covers the basics but I don’t believe it has separate guides for each windows version.
