My baby just got married!

Hiya, all!!

Sorry that I've been MIA during the last bit, but I've been a "tad" busy with my daughter's wedding... I am now, an official mother-in-law, LOL!

The event has all but pooped me right out (haha). They decided to get legally married last Friday (City Hall) and then have their ceremony on Saturday. I was, once again, the main chauffeur (except for the bride's appearance, of course... but I did get to walk her down the aisle), while they did all of their hand-made decorations at my house, running around picking up their sweets, the seating plans, menagerie, handfasting stuff, etc, picking up and driving around my goddaughter and her Mom (they flew in, from the peninsula) for the event.,etc, etc. .

Anyway, The whole shebang turned out simply perfect, although the weather was truly hot (36º C, and no wind, at all), but we all managed to survive it. Am very happy that they're happy and are presently enjoying their honeymoon, in a country hotel where as my Cassandra says they're "incommunicated" (they do have WiFi, though). Now, every couple of days I do some house-sitting at their flat (at the other end of the island) and have their cat and two dogs (one's a 5-week old puppy) at my place... Together with mine, I'm "Mommy" to ***eleven*** animals!! I feel like I'm living in a zoo...

When they come back from their escapade (around the 25th or so), and take back their munchkins, I *should* be back to normal... (I hope).

Well, I just wanted to share the happy news with you.

Take care.

Congratulations.

36C??? We haven't gone above 10C here

Oh - and we do use your word in English (or is it an Italian word) 'incommunicado' (English isn't above 'borrowing' words from just about every language going - they would even call a priest (mainly a chaplain) 'padre')

ps - you haven't missed anything. Ever since TUS slammed the hammer on the spammers, it's been very quiet - I haven't had to ban anyone for ages LOL

Oh, I know. I remember trying to teach a geography teacher of mine to correctly say "cordillera" (hilly ridge) in class, but he just couldn't roll his tongue properly, poor guy!.

So I noticed, I think it's great!!

If you think getting an Anglophone to manage the double ‘L’ in Spanish is bad, you want to hear them trying place names here that have a guttural (Ahoghill, Augher, Aughnacloy, etc)

Ha, Ha, ha… and all they need is to pronounce it like an English “G” (kor-dee-geh.rah) What I think is one of the hardest tasks for them is to get their tongues around the "R"s

When it's a 'hard/rolled' "R" ike in "perro" (dog) and a 'soft' "R", like "esperar" (to wait). They're just unable to position the tip of their tongues flat (as opposed to having it curled upwards) behind their top teeth (I have a Scottish friend, with a moderate brogue, that could pronounce my real name, as though it was French (Marie). That's about the only one that got close to the soft "R" ) 🤣🤣

Same problem with my name (Dáithí) - the ‘th’ is a soft ‘h’ (not quite a guttural but on the verge of being one) - it’s sounded at the back of the mouth but they fall flat trying to say it even if I repeat it a few times.

What REALLY annoys me is to be asked "What's that in English?"

Haha… Didn´t you know? There are only English names in the world…:rofl::rofl:
