I urge you to uninstall that and install ffdshow instead. K-Lite packages installs a lot of bloated filters and messes up your system. Even if it still works, it still installs a lot of crap.

I have looked at your link to the discussion and it seems quite interesting.
What I cannot make up through the whole muddle is: for a newbie what is the best one to use for simple video viewing?
Also what is wrong in having more than one player?

I’ve expressed my point of view on codecs by summing everything up in post #13 there.
Everyone may have as many players as they like; but most of us like quite a few players (and tastes vary
), hence we don’t have many of them installed ![]()
Plus its easier to get one player that plays everything setup the way we like it instead of having to deal with 4 or 5 players.
Got it. I guess I will try them and see which one suits me better.
