I upgraded to version 0.77 as it was showing as the latest version from download.com. The “Time Left” column refreshes every second but the time shown varies wildly from 19 minutes to 23 hours!
System is WinXP SP2, upgraded from 0.7 to 0.77 overwriting previous install.

well if your download speed would be 500KB/s time remaining will be 30 minutes on 700MB file but if you have 10KB/s download time remaining will be 9 hours B)
Unless you’re one of the unpaid beta testers, you should stay with stable versions of BitComet (currently 0.70) and not upgrade except to a later stable version.
Torrent download rates vary tremendously as the swarm composition and connectivity is always in flux. It’s nothing at all like downloading from a file server.
