Partially downloaded files in task reset to . . .

I was downloading a task with a lot of big video files, and many of them had reached 60-70% downloaded. I then unchecked all the files' boxes except one which was at 80%, so it would finish quicker and then I could watch it and concentrate on downloading the others. Once the file finished, all the others reset to 0% and it looks like I'll have to begin them all again from scratch. Shouldn't they resume from where they were? Has all the data been lost?
