Carpetas de Descarga y Usuarios de Win Vista

Hola!

He tenido que reinstalar recientemte BitComet en el PC.

Se instala correctamente, abro los puertos, etc... Asimismo, y como venia antes de la reinstalación, modifico la carpeta donde van a ir las descargas, en este caso un disco externo USB ,en lugar de la carpeta por defecto en el disco C:.

Tengo configurado Win vista para que lo usen 2 personas, yo (el admin) y otro mas.

El programa aparece bien instalado en ambos usuarios. El problema viene cuando uno inicia una tarea...Ambas tareas aparecen en la carpeta de descargas, pero no en bitcomet... A ver si me explico con un ejemplo... ;)

-Admin (yo) pongo a bajar el archivo X, cierro sesion con ese usuario y entro en el otro usuario del PC.

-Arranco Bitcomet en el otro usuario que acabo de abrir y la tarea NO aparece, pero si consta en el disco USb donde estan las descargas.

-Sin cerrar la sesión activa, inicio una tarea Y, empieza a descargar y cierro la sesión.

-Abro otra sesión de Admin, arranco BitComet y NO aparece la tarea iniciada por el otro usuario.

Nunca habia tenido este problema...¬¬

Siempre habia usado esta configuración tanto de usuarios como de bitcomet y habia funcionado de maravilla.

Recently, I've had to reinstall BitComet in my computer.

It installs correctly, I open the ports, etc. . As before the reinstallation, I modify the folder where the downloads will end up - in this case, an external USB drive, instead of the default folder in the HD C: .

I have WIN Vista configured for two people to use - Myself (Admin.) and another.

The program appears to be properly installed for both users. The problem arises when one starts a task... Both tasks appear in the Downloads folder, but not in BitComet... Let's see if I can explain myself [better], using an example... ;)

- I (Admin.) start the download of file "X", I close the session as such user and [re-enter] as the 'other' user.

- I start BitComet as the 'other' user (whose session I've just opened) and the task does NOT appear, but it does show in the external USB drive, where the downloads are.

- Without closing the active session, I start task "Y", it starts to download, and I close the session.

- I open the Admin. session, start BitComet and the task that the 'other' user started does NOT appear.

I had never had this problem... I had always used this configuration/method (bot in terms of users and of BitComet) and it had worked wonderfully.

When you install an application on an OS intended to support multiple users, you can install that application for just yourself, or you can install it for all users.

If you install it for just yourself, then it is usually installed in a program directory that you own and control.

If you install it for everybody, then it is usually installed in shared common space that everyone can access.

Vista is much more of a true multiuser OS than any previous version of Windows, so the behaviour may be quite different from what you are used to, because of this.

If you install BitComet just for (or as) user Q, then the program gets installed into a "logical" path that is different from the "physical" path - into a "program files" directory that is actually contained somewhere in Q's Documents and Settings folder.

If you then install BitComet just for user P, the same thing happens. The paths LOOK the same to P as they do to Q, but they are not. Neither one can see stuff in the other's D&S directory. I emphasize that, to each of these users, a path in their D&S directory looks to them like it's in "C:\Program files" when it actually is down in "C:\Documents and Settings\Users\...".

When P runs the application, he runs the instance from his D&S folder. When Q runs the application, he runs the instance from HIS D&S folder. They are running two different instances from two different physical paths, which load two different task lists; so it follows that they cannot see each others tasks.

Whether P or Q happen to be administrators or not makes no essential difference here. That's not the important criterion.

But if you install the application for "All users", then everybody is running the same instance, loading the same task list and it's likely that everyone can see everyone else's tasks. These tasks aren't identified by user -- you can't tell who started downloading what, so be careful if you're in a situation where that matters or where tasks need to be kept private.

Cuando instalas una aplicación (programa) en un Sistema Operativo cuyo fin es el de soportar múltiples usuarios, puedes instalar esa aplicación para sólo tú mismo, o puedes instalarla para todos los usuarios.

Si la instalas para ti exclusivamente, entonces se instala, normalmente, en un directorio de programa, el cual tú controlas y es de tu propiedad.

Si la instalas para el uso de todos, entonces se instala, normalmente, en un lugar comunitario compartido, al que todos puedan tener acceso.

Vista resulta ser, más que cualquiera de las versiones anteriores de Windows, un SO verdaderamente enfocado a usuarios múltiples. A causa de esto, el comportamiento puede resultar bastante distinto a lo que estés acostumbrado.

Si instalas BitComet sólo como (o para) el usuario Q, entonces el programa se instala en una ruta “lógica”, la cual es distinta a la ruta “física” – dentro de un directorio de “archivos de programas”, que se encuentra en algún lugar dentro de la carpeta de “Documents and Settings (‘Documentos y Configuraciones’, eninglés) de Q”.

Si después instalas BitComet sólo para el usuario P, pasa lo mismo. Las rutas LES PARECEN ser iguales, bien a P como a Q – pero no lo son. Ninguno de los dos puede ver lo que el otro tenga dentro de su directorio de Documents and Settings. Hago hincapié en que, a cada uno de estos usuarios, una ruta en su directorio de Documents and Settings le aparece como si estuviese en “C:\Archivos de Programas”, cuando, en realidad, está en “C:\Documents and Settings\Usuarios\...”.

Cuando P pone en marcha la aplicación, efectúa la instancia desde su carpeta de Documents and Settings. Cuando Q hace lo mismo, efectúa la instancia desde SU carpeta de Documents and Settings. Están efectuando dos instancias distintas, desde dos rutas físicas distintas – las cuales cargan dos listas de tareas distintas y, por lo que deduce, el uno no puede ver las tareas del otro.

Que P o Q sean los administradores o no, no crea ninguna diferencia esencial, en este caso. Ese no es el criterio importante.

Sin embargo, si instalas la aplicación para “Todos los Usuarios”, entonces todo el mundo estará efectuando la misma instancia, cargando la misma lista de tareas y, más que probable, todos podrán ver las tareas de todos los demás. Dichas tareas no se identifican por usuario – no puedes distinguir quién empezó a descargar esto o lo otro, así que ten cuidado, si te encuentras en una situación donde esto es importante o donde las tareas necesitan mantenerse privadas.
