jjanne07
Im new to this whole thing, so its best to keep the lingo quite simple, please. I just downloaded bitcomet 1.15, and the downloads are extremely slow, or wont begin. Ive checked my firewall, its off. Can anything in my settings have a direct effect on my ability to download, and yes im checking wether or not it has seeds...still, nothing. I appreciate the help.
cassie
Whenever you have a question, you first have to provide what we consider the Essentials and be able to include the maximum amount of detailed information (speed test results, the settings that you're using, which Tutorial/s you have followed, etc.) possible - the more, the better. Since you're new, I suggest that you start off by reading this, and then follow with some of these and these. By the way, go back and enable/activate your firewall immediately... connecting to the Internet without, at least, one active firewall is a very, very unwise and dangerous choice. greywizard
Welcome. Please make sure that you post in the right section of the forum, for your topic's subject. Additionally, make sure that before posting, in the future, you read and provide the information required here (it's the minimum required in order to be able to provide any help). Ive checked my firewall, its off.Your firewall should never be off, unless you have a router (which usually has a hardware firewall), otherwise your PC can be infected in a matter of minutes. You could in extreme circumstances (when all other attempts to troubleshoot fail) turn it off for no more than a few moments, which is how long it takes for you to see if it blocks any connection attempts. Can anything in my settings have a direct effect on my ability to download... Yes, there are quite a few things which need to be set right for you to get the maximum out of your connection, with any BitTorrent client. To find out which are they, check the Guides section of this forum, especially the Up to date BitComet Speed Guide and the How to Set up Portforwarding & Static IP guide (the last one, only in case you have a router connecting you to Internet). This will also enrich your lingo, so, you'll be killing two birds with one shot. ;)
