PabloNoreaga
Hey, I used to use BitComet a couple years ago, well, have only used BitComet as my torrent client always, as I love it completely. I have noticed that my Passport experience in the lower left of the client after you log-in has not updated since I started using BitComet again a few weeks ago. It is not an issue of not uploading/downloading enough too. I don't want to say how many GB's it is, but it could fill a notebook hard drive for instance. I also use PeerBlock. That is the only thing that has changed since using it last, when it updated correctly. It very well may be a PeerBlock problem, as PeerBlock seems to block Bitcomet from reading my listening port and also PB will not let me sign in to BitComet until I turn it off. So everytime I start torrenting for the day I just turn off PeerBlock for a second and log in and detect listening port, and then enable PeerBlock again after that. Seems that PeerBlock is blocking some aspects of BitComet. I wish my Passport would have updated though. Anyone know what's going on? kluelos
That would indeed be the case and for precisely the same reason. PeerBlock seems to be preventing you from contacting BitComet's servers. One of those servers is used to probe your listen port, to see if it's open. Another is used to update your Passport stats. The general consensus is that peer-blocking software is a waste of time and resources, providing as much real security as the USA's Transportation Safety Administration -- none to speak of. Any self-respecting shill-for-the-MPAA who can't figure a way around any sort of blocker within a minute or two should truly be ashamed of himself. My advice: uninstall PeerBlock. PabloNoreaga
Well, first off. Thanks for the reply. I hear you on uninstalling PeerBlock, but it just adds that extra peace of mind, so it must stay :D . Do you know which IP's BitComet is using to use and connect with the passport and to detect the listening port? Any way to get around this? greywizard
Just allow all the IPs listed in this topic.
PabloNoreaga
Not sure if it has worked, just set it up! But. EXACTLY what I was looking for and I would imagine this should do the trick. Thanks a lot! -J
