shippou
I forwarded 4 ports, 3479 being among them. They all worked and this one remains unopen from some reason. Is there any reason why a specific port refuses to open up? Maybe it is just shy
greywizard
Yes, 3479 is a shy one. I think it's a Virgo or something. You should romance it first; try reading it some poetry. A nice candlelight dinner, some roses, champagne maybe and some nice slow music might help it warm up to you and open itself to you. ;)
kluelos
Hey, I'm a Virgo and I'm not nearly that fussy. Just a good champagne, a walk on the beach ...

greywizard
This is about as serious as we can get with your 3 line post and you holding back any technical background info whatsoever.
shippou
I see. What kind of information I could give?
greywizard
How about starting with the announcement on top of this section: Read This Before Posting? Then telling us what you did to forward them? And how did you test them to see that this one it's still closed? And for what app are you using it? These might do for a start.
kluelos
it would be nice to know what you're trying to open the port in, too. Is there a router with a firmware firewall here? The built-in firewall to some version of Windows? A 3rd-party firewall?
shippou
Then telling us what you did to forward them?--Okay I connected to my router through google chrome and did the following: Entered 192.168.1.1->Forwarding->Virtual Servers->Add new... Service port: 3658 IP address: 192.168.1.101 Protocol: ALL Status: Enable Common Service Port: none And how did you test them to see that this one it's still closed?--PFPortChecker And for what app are you using it?--What? it would be nice to know what you're trying to open the port in, too.--Demon's Souls(PS3 game) and Bitcomet Is there a router with a firmware firewall here?--I don't know, how do I check? The built-in firewall to some version of Windows?--The built-in firewall is the same one I got from the windows service pack 2 and I didn't update it. Other then AVG, no 3rd party firewall
greywizard
When I said to read the Read This Before Posting announcement, I didn't mean to just read it as a fiction lecture but to read and provide all the info described within. Now back to your post. And for what app are you using it?--What? What's not clear? I was asking for which application are you trying to open the port. it would be nice to know what you're trying to open the port in, too.--Demon's Souls(PS3 game) and Bitcomet 1. You can open a port only in a firewall, not in a application. You open it for an application to use. This answer you gave here, was the answer to my question from above. 2.You can't use the same port number for several applications simultaneously. The first one which starts registers for that port number in Windows Winsocks and the rest of them won't be able to access that port until such time that it's released by the first application, at exit time. Is there a router with a firmware firewall here?--I don't know, how do I check? A hardware firewall is the firewall present on a hardware device such as a modem or router device. The built-in firewall to some version of Windows?--The built-in firewall is the same one I got from the windows service pack 2 and I didn't update it. You don't need to update the firewall. You just need to make sure that the port number you need is opened in the firewall. BitComet can configure automatically the Windows firewall if set to do that, on the Options-->Connection page. Is it so in your case? Or if not, did you configure it manually? If you don't open the port in all firewalls present between you and the Internet, you shouldn't expect it to be open. Other then AVG, no 3rd party firewall Is your port opened in this firewall as well? Why would you use 2 firewalls at once? You can check your port at www.canyouseeme.org. If you need to retrace your steps you can use this topic: I have a yellow status light and my download speeds are slow. What should I do?
shippou
I opened the ports with the firewall like you said and it worked! Thanks for that. Also sorry for making mistakes, I really appreciate your help :) Because you know, internetz is cool
