UDP setting for Bitcomet

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to set UDP for Singet user with 2wire modern/router model 2701HGV-E? As i not sure why when i set TCP no problem but UDP no matter how i set at the bitcomet section alway show that UDP is been block by route/firewall? Although my listen port is in green

you simply make a second rule, identical to the rule you've already made, but select the UDP radio button instead of the TCP button. Make the application name slightly different (BitComet UDP) to avoid overwriting. Use the same port number for both protocols.

Having your listen port open for UDP available means that you can use DHT, which may find you more peers. It will not directly benefit your download speed, but those additional peers might do so. Having the TCP port open means that other peers can connect to you, and that will speed up your download most of the time.

Bittorrent clients will take all of the bandwidth that they can grab. If you don't restrain them, they will interfere with everything else. The settings guide explains that you must limit your global maximum upload speed (not download) to about 80 percent of your connection's measured upload capacity to avoid this interference.

Your particular router's firmware requires a separate rule for each protocol. Whoever developed the firmware used radio buttons for the protocol choice. They probably did it without thinking. The result of not thinking is that whoever configures the router must select one protocol or the other and can't select both in a single rule. So, to get both, you have to make two rules for the same port, one rule that opens the port for TCP and another rule that opens the port for UDP.

You have a router rule in place allowing TCP. Now you need another one, for the same computer, same IP address, same port, but for UDP.

HI, I setup 2 rules in my router for tcp and udp both on the same listening port forwarded to my Bitcomet.

Still no luck. My firewall has two rules as well, both for BC, one for TCP and one for UDP both set to connection allowed..

TCP works fine, but Bitcomet says UDP is still blocked by firewall/router. Any clues why?

EDIT: nevermind. I restarted my router and restarted BC also. UDP open! :) Now let's see..
