sharing all library files

Recommended Posts

hi

Can anyone help me here. i have over 200 files in my bitcomet library, on my external hard drive. I have about 40 now on my c drive.. when i get too many on c, i move them to the external drive. however i can only share the ones on my c drive and the lbrary list on my bitcomet does not show all the ones on the external drive. i can either default the download to c or in this case j, but cant make both libraries available to peers. my port says its blocked but it does not slow me down at all so i dont think its that. it would be nice to make what ive got available to other people as it looks , all the time that im not sharing.. any takers..... help please.. mitchell59

After your files are already moved, you can change the task specific download setting to match the new location then restart the torrent. After rehashing the files, they will begin to upload.

Or, you can use the bitcomet interface to move the files, then it should automatically change the settings.

Your default download location is only the one used if you don't enter a task specific setting when beginning a torrent, but you can have a separate location for each torrent, but obviously, you can't have two default locations.

In case you're not very familiar with operating BitComet, I'll just elaborate the 3 methods TUUS explained to you above:

  1. You can right-click any task in the Task List and choose "Properties" from the context menu; there you can change the path to the new folder where you moved the files.
    A. If you already moved the files (bad move by the way ;)) upon hitting the OK button you should get a dialog warning you that the path you've set contains files and asking you if you want to hash-check. You just answer "Yes" and you should be done. If you don't get asked, do a manual hash check. Your percentage should show 100% at the end of that.
    B. If you haven't moved the files yet (smart move ;)) upon hitting the OK button you'll get a dialog asking you if you want to move the files to the new location. Just accept and your files will be automatically moved. After that, voilà, your task is moved!
  2. You can use the smarter and less cumbersome method of stopping the task, right-clicking it and then choosing from the context menu Files Move To. Your files for that task will be automatically moved to the location of your choice. By selecting multiple tasks you can move them all at once with this method (they'll move one by one but with a single command from your part).
  3. You can choose upon creation time of the task to download it directly into another location, by modifying the same path we were talking about at point 1, on the properties page of the task. When you hit the Download button the files for the task will be created in the location you indicated instead of the default one.

If you've moved the files and removed the task, simply re-add the task with the menu, but do not allow it to start yet. Then change the download (yeah, I know) directory to the current location of the file, perform a manual hash check to assure that BitComet sees the existing torrent, and start the task.
