Mrboogersman
I just noticed on my friends bitcomet that you can have unlimited download, and have uploads set at 10kb/s and still get insane download speeds like 700kbs - 1mb, is this a bug? or do you not get restricted on downloads now if upload is set to the lowest number? Also is there a way that i can set it so uploads do affect download rates, cause downloading is killing the network speeds. greywizard
Occasionally you may get high speeds even for a very small upload speed; that is when most of your download speed comes from seeds (which don't need anything from you, hence don't care about your upload speed). But in most of the swarms the biggest chunk of your download speed comes from other peers and in that case your upload speed counts a lot (if you don't give you don't get). You can limit your download speed separately if you need some part of the network's bandwidth for other applications, you don't need to do it through setting the upload speed. And as a thumb rule, the upload speed should be set to 80% of the tested upload speed of your connection, so that there is room for protocol overhead traffic and for upstream traffic from other applications.
