Ripahh
1) What version of BitComet are you using? 1.22 2) What type of Internet connection do you have (ADSL, etc.)? ADSL 2MB down 500Kb up 3) Do you have a modem? Do you use a router? What make and model are each one of them? Have you forwarded your port? Yes I use a router and its open 4) If you have more than one router, be sure to mention the make and model of both devices, how are they connected (i.e. in which connector of both devices is the network cable plugged) and which one of the devices is connected to or is the modem. Also, if you have more than one computer make sure to mention in this case, to which router is every one of them connected. China great firewall is the issue 5) What version of Windows, Firewall and Antivirus do you use? Windows 7 with Avira I would like to know if I can use a VPN for bitcomet and what settings I should use to allow its use from China. Lucy26
Hi Ripahh, you'll need to set the proxy, and provide your username and password for the VPN. You can do this from Tools -> Options -> proxy

Ripahh
Lucy I see you are in china also. Do you recommend a VPN service to use as all of the ones I found have no username to input just an IP address. I still cannt download anything. The UnUsual Suspect
One option a lot of users are doing is renting a server (seedbox) that you can run torrents from, then you can ftp the files to your home computer freely. There are companies that offer "shared" seedboxes that aren't very expensive, but if you want to do a lot of torrenting and get good speeds, getting a dedicated server would be the best option. Using a proxy or vpn connection is simply "renting" the use of a server outside your area, and you'll probably find the cheap or free services give you horrible performance, but if you operate the seedbox, it's fully under your control, and many are available at speeds as high as a gigabit, or 1,000,000kb/s (125,000kB/s).
