BitComet tendrá pensado desarrollar una versión para Linux?

Así es, tal como dice el título, tengo esa duda.. ya que me parece este un buen cliente torrent(excelentísimo) y me gustaría saber si el equipo de desarrollo tendrá pensada una versión para linux, mi distrubición es ubuntu :P

actualmente para poder utilizar bitcomet me toca virtualizar XP para poder empezar a descargar a una buena velocidad xD

I am wondering, as it states in the title... as I think that it's a good (excellent) torrent client and I'd like to know if the Developing Team has thought about [bringing out] a version for Linux ( my distribution is ubuntu) :P

Actually, in order to be able to use BitComet, I have to "virtualize" XP, so that I can start to download at a decent speed. :D

This really is becoming a frequently-asked question.

A *nix version of BitComet really isn't in the cards. It is far, far more difficult to create a unix version of Windows software, than the task appears to anyone who's never actually tried it. MS has never managed to make a successful unix version of Internet Explorer, though they've been trying for over a decade now. This is badly needed for testing purposes. but has never happened.

When you do something like this, you find that some things are trivial to implement in one OS, and extremely difficult to do in another. Do you allow your feature tree to branch, so that they start becoming two different products, or do you retard development of all versions until you work out the problems with the one OS -- or give up the feature for all branches if you just can't?

For example. much of what unix does is built on its elaborate permissions and ownerships structure, which just doesn't exist in Windows. Any feature you have that involves ownership is very difficult to do in unix or in Windows, depending on what it is.

So, practically speaking, a unix version just isn't going to happen.

Es muchísimo más difícil crear una versión unix de un programa [software] de Windows, que lo que aparenta ser, a alguien que nunca lo haya actualmente intentado. MicroSoft jamás ha logrado crear una versión unix aceptable de su Internet Explorer, aunque llevan intentándolo durante más de una década. Esto es algo que, aunque muy imprescindible (para poder efectuar pruebas), nunca ha sucedido.

Cuando haces algo así, encuentras que algunas cosas son increíblemente fácil de implementar en un Sistema Operativo, mientras que en otro SO resultan extremadamente difíciles. ¿Permites que tu árbol de características se vaya extendiendo, para que empiecen a ser dos productos distintos? ¿O, retrasas el desarrollo de todas las versiones, hasta que hayas solucionado los problemas de uno de los SO - o desistes el implementar la característica para todas sus ramas, si simplemente no puedes?

Por ejemplo, mucho de lo que unix hace está basado en su estructura elaborada de propiedades y permisos , algo que, en Windows, sencillamente no existe. Cualquier característica que tengas, en la que atañe titularidad, es muy difícil hacer en unix o en Windows, dependiendo que lo que sea. Por tanto, y hablando en términos prácticos, una versión unix simplemente no va a suceder
