The UnUsual Suspect
Because your message doesn't specify, I'm unclear as to which you are reporting. Are you trying to open mpcstar by executing the mpg file? Or are you trying to Open the mpg file from within mpcstar? The former would be a problem with windows file associations, not mpcstar. The latter could be a problem with mpcstar, but we'd need more details on the file/s your trying to open.

kluelos
Does MPCStar lock up? If it does not, you should look under the FILE menu, at the FILE INFO item, to see what MPCStar is using to handle the file and what it thinks the streams are. This should at least provide useful information.

The UnUsual Suspect
Hi, If version 5.0 is unable to play your mpeg2 video, then I suggest you revert back to the previous version. If the problem is with mpcstar itself, then it's development team will need to address the issue with a product update. I cannot say how long that will take, but it will be announced when one is available.

Lucy26
Hi ossama2007, we could not reproduce the problem, does your MPCStar 5.0 has problem when playing all your mpeg 2 files? If you have the source of the file, can you please send it to me? So the development team can test it. Thank you. :)

The UnUsual Suspect
ossama2007, If you intended to post a link, or a file attachment to this post, it didn't work. Please either upload a sample of the video (if it's a small file), or provide us a link to where we can get it to test. If the file is relatively small, say 20MB or less, then you can upload it to a site like Fileden.com, badongo.com, rapidshare.com, megaupload.com, or other. If it's 2mb or less you can upload it direct to this forum. Note that most torrents contain a very small "sample" of the video content, so you won't have to edit the video or upload a very large file. kluelos
I confirm this. VLC 1.17 will play this file. MPCStar 5.0 will not, and it caused MPCStar to crash.
The UnUsual Suspect
I can also confirm that it works with Media Player Classic (MPC-HC 1.3.1976.0) Thanks for providing this. That should be all the development team needs to fix the problem. For the meantime, I can only suggest you revert to a prior version and check the release notes when a new version is released. zodiac
Hi everyone.I am having problem with playing any file of the following format: Video: MPEG4 Video 720x576 29.97fps 1199Kbps [Output 0] Audio: AAC 0Hz 0ch [Output 1]When I am playing the same file in avi format then there is no problem. After I have converted the avi to MP4 with a program called emicsoft video converter, the mpc star refuses to play the file. Anyone who has a idea about the mentioned problem?? I would really appreciate some help. Regards Mike from Sweden
kluelos
Sure sounds like the transcode messed up the file. Are you able to play the output with, say, VLC or anything else?
zodiac
Yes I am, even with the media player and the player within the media center that comes with the Windows7 Ultimate. I downloaded and installed the previous version of MPC player 4.9 to see if there is a difference, well the older one works like a swiss watch. That fact really confuses me, shouldn't newer versions be better than the older ones?
kluelos
Ok, well, that would have been a very good thing to have said in the first place, rather than make us ask you for it. So, time wasted because you didn't. Hopefully the developers will have this called to their attention.
zerojinn
Thank you for your reports, they will be forwarded to the development team. Our development team is working on this issue at the moment, but we are not able to reproduce the error yet. We will keep trying, once this error is fixed, you will know from the changelog of a future version.
