Adding second computer to Bit Comet exception list for Uverse

1) What version of BitComet are you using? - 1.22

2) What type of Internet connection do you have (ADSL, etc.)? - uverse (see screenshot)

3) Do you have a modem? Do you use a router? What make and model are each one of them? Have you forwarded your port? - modem is 2WIRE (version is 3801) its all in one,

4) If you have more than one router, be sure to mention the make and model of both devices,

how are they connected (i.e. in which connector of both devices is the network cable plugged)

and which one of the devices is connected to or is the modem.

Also, if you have more than one computer make sure to mention in this case, to which router is

every one of them connected. - Multiple computers on the network....TWO are important one "my laptop #1"is currently running bitcomet perfectly after I followed this guys instructions on getting a

green light by changing the uverse settings (see screenshots). I followed the instructions in this very very helpful post: http://www.cometforums.com/topic/12793498-unblocking-listening-port/

im afraid "my laptop #2" wont be able to connnect to bitcomet perfectly due to uverse settings

"my laptop #2" was connected fine w/ green light along with "my laptop #1" on my old dsl connection btw...its the new uverse settings I'm trying to tweak

im thinking i may have to set up my linksys to bypass the 2wire limitations?

5) What version of Windows, Firewall and Antivirus do you use? Norton Symantec Anti

I tried google search of the u verse problem, and in this forum in addition to the FAQ and couldnt find anyone with two computers set up on a u verse 2 wire connection running bit comet simultaneously

The screenshots are the UVERSE 2 WIRE router interface if. sorry if these are of no help.

Before I look deeply into this, I think the problem could be extremely simple. Your router doesn't know exactly what bitcomet is, it just knows there is a firewall rule called "bitcomet", so it objects to a second rule of the same name. If you make the second rule and name it "bitcomet2" (or any other name), it should work.

Try that and see what happens.

edit: use the "add a new user defined application" link to make the bitcomet2.

ps. naturally the second computer and it's rule would need a unique port number.

You should thank your router for not allowing you to do what you tried. It knows better.

The thing is that incoming connections are forwarded towards any specific IP on the LAN based on the port number(s) assigned to a profile which is linked to that IP.

If your router would have let you assign the same profile and hence same port number to both PCs, how would it have known to which one of them to forward incoming connections on that port?

Once you assign an application profile to an IP, that profile and its corresponding port(s) are "taken". They can't be used by other IPs in the LAN, for the logical reason explained above.

So, as TUUS told you above, create a new profile with a different port (the one BitComet will use on Laptop#2) for the other laptop (you could name it Lady Gaga for what your router cares) and assign it to the static IP of your second laptop.

Then it should work.

I have the same connection and setup, and it works very well.

Uverse is an ADSL connection, and the 2-Wire is a gateway, combination modem and router (and digital telephony and television, if activated). You don't need another device in the chain, it's quite capable of whatever you need. Just follow the advice above.

One bit of advice though? Delete all of those other rules you aren't using. (Battlefield communicator, Dark Reign, etc.) They serve no purpose and just add clutter.

Added: "Bitcomet2" and it worked

Kluelos...id delete those other exceptions, as I'm sure you know, those are provided by default but I havent figured out how to. Not sure you can.

I'd pay it forward on this but unfortunately Im not that good with this stuff...Hopefully others will look at this and learn.

(btw the other redundant "bitcomet 14177" profiles etc....were probably just added to make sure everything was OK to open the previous port...I probably had some other steps on my old lynksys and I was like f*** it...i dont want to have to keep adding stuff to figure out wat works)

If you click on any of the rules, then "remove", it should be removed. If it opens that applications port by default, and you have no plans of ever using that app, then I would remove the rule.

As for the two port numbers listed for bitcomet, if you use the emule plugin, then you will need two rules, one for the bitcomet port, one for the emule port. If you don't use the emule plugin, then you only want one port opened for both tcp and udp connections.
