All of bitcomet's settings are stored in the "bitcomet.xml" file, which is nominally stored in a directory under %appdata%.

A normal bitcomet update does not overwrite that file, so all of your settings and preferences are preserved. It's only if you specifically delete that file somehow, that your preferences will vanish. If you save it somewhere else, and put it back after whatever you're doing, your settings should reappear as you had them.

Hmm. This doesn't happen for me. Now the column sizes aren't preserved, but they never were. Which columns are visible though, is always preserved. Why not see what happens if you save a copy of your settings file elsewhere, then recopy it into the program directory after the upgrade?
