ahmar123456
I am facing this issue that whenever I try to download from bitcomet I can easily connect to LT seeds but they start to lose too much data. If I disable the LT seeds option I get slow speeds but there is no wasted data. The data is only wasted when I turn on the LT seeds option. Please help me... I am using BitComet 1.37 32bit (the latest release) and I have a 3g connection which is fast enough for me. I use a TP-Link 3g Router TL-MR3420 and I have a successfully forwarded port (green light). I am using windows 8.1 64bit. The issue is just with LT seeds wasting so much data. Every thing else is just fine. Thanks,
ahmar123456
I figured a way to stop the data wasting too much for LT seeds. If anyone is having the same problem or sometimes get this problem please try the following method as it works for me. So it might as well work for you. ;) Solution= :D 1= Start the task and let it connect to LT seeds and start downloading. 2= Once it starts downloading from LT seeds it will start wasting data.... (almost 60% of the data from LT seeds will be wasted) 3= Now stop the task 4= Right-click on it and select "manual hash check" 5= after the hash-check is complete start the task again. It will take some time to connect to LT seeds but it will connect and from now on data will not be dropped / wasted and you can download peacefully. (as it is working for me now) Thanks for reading...
The UnUsual Suspect
I would need a specific report with screenshots and the tasks used if we are going to try to reproduce this. It may be an issue specific to your hardware or connection, but if it is a bitcomet problem and it can be reproduced, we will forward it to development. ps. it is normal to have some redundant data when using LTseed because it downloads files rather than pieces, any file could have any number of bittorrent pieces that construct it, if the file consists of 100 BT pieces and you've already downloaded 50 of them, then about half the data will be redundant, but in most cases the amount of redundant data isn't as extreme as you report. pps. If you're connection is metered by usage it may be more efficient to not use LTseed, although it will reduce your speed.
ahmar123456
As you (Admin) said it can be hardware specific but t is not hardware specific coz I was downloading some stuff from another computer using my id (that I use on my laptop) but the same stuff was happening there too...so I guess it is not hardware specific But yeah I can upload some pics to show you how it goes Thanks for helping... Sorry for late reply as I was busy.
ahmar123456
So I have attached these screen shots with the post...the first 3 screens show the data wasted and the seeds connected to the torrent file... the last screen shows the wastage of data after I have done that process...It was still wasting the data...but with other torrents the problem seems to resolve after the hash check but with this torrent it didn't.... So it is possible that the problem could be with specific torrents but I guess you guys should check it...I have a limited usage Connection so it is a massive problem for me...it really wastes like so much data. Thanks... Edit--- The torrent I used in this is just for this process so I am also attaching the torrent file... p.s. I know this is not a good torrent...but for this process please don't mind it... The UnUsual Suspect
We'll need the magnet links to the tasks and screenshots showing an abnormal amount of rubbish data, but keep in mind that if your task has any large files in it and you download one or more of these files via LTseed, any bittorrent pieces previously downloaded that are part of that file will be abandoned. For example, your torrent has 4 files of 1000mb each. Each 1000mb file has about 4000 bittorrent pieces and you've already downloaded about half of the torrent so each file is about 50% complete then you suddenly discover a LTseed source for one of these files so you download it. Since you only need half of the file the other half will be wasted. There is no way to avoid this and I suspect this is what you are seeing. In most cases the amount of redundant data isn't huge and the benefits of LTseed far outweigh the negative impact of downloading redundant data, but as I mentioned in my last reply, if you pay for your internet metered by bandwidth you should probably disable LTseed unless the task badly needs it. The advantages to using LTseed are that the tasks can download much faster (if LTseed sources are available), and in some cases you would not only be able to download a dead or dying torrent, but you'd also become a seeder of such a torrent and help the rest of the users to complete their download. It's very "swarm friendly" technology and helps all peers, not only those using BitComet, although to take full advantage of it you will need to use bitcomet. The UnUsual Suspect
I have it downloading now but haven't connected to any LTseed connections yet. Regarding your screenshots, I think we'll need to see the results after significant amount of the torrent has been downloaded. With less than 1% complete the stats won't provide any useful info. ahmar123456
Yes now I understand completely that what is going on...maybe I will give it some time... And as I mentioned in my 2nd post that I can fix this issue (mostly) by hash check process so I guess it will be fine for me. Thanks for help though... You can close this thread. The UnUsual Suspect
update: I'm now at 25% complete and still have no LTseed connections and no dropped data.
The UnUsual Suspect
I doubt the hash check actually fixes anything, you're still going to have dropped data when you mix protocols like this. Thanks for the magnet link but the torrent file works just as well. We only request the magnet links because they are easier to post and don't require any uploading. Also when you post a magnet link it's helpful if you use the "code" tags instead of "quote", that will keep it within the viewable area of the page. I'll edit your post so you can see the difference. ahmar123456
Oh thanks for the info....I guess there is some problem at my end maybe...So I will continue to see if I can get something from it...But for now...I think this post should be closed because the problem doesn't seem any obvious. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.
The UnUsual Suspect
The download completed with the following stats. Total downloaded: 1.28gB Bittorrent peers: 1.16gB Long-Term seeds: 119.91mB Dropped data: 1.98mB This is an acceptable amount of dropped data ps. Unless you have a specific reason for wanting the post closed I'd prefer to leave it open in case anyone else is able to duplicate the issue. ahmar123456
well that's okay...Thanks for your help in this. But for me hash check really stops the wasting of data.
