nottonto
Hi , for the last two days when I try to go to any torrent site I get this message, " page can't be displayed", does anyone know what's happening ? nottonto
The UnUsual Suspect
I suggest you provide a link so we can determine if the site is down, or if it's your computer or connection at fault.

Hi thanks for your interest, what link do you want me to provide ? I've visited a friend today who has the exact same problem, we both use TalkTalk ISP, can't get onto any torrent sites, every other website works OK, I don't have any other computer/internet issues, we both use Vuze. thanks nottonto
The UnUsual Suspect
we both use Vuze. thanks nottonto My first thought is if you use Vuze, you're asking in the wrong forum. The reason I asked for the link was to determine if BitComet was correctly sending the link to the browser and to confirm that the website/s you're trying to load are actually working. It's also possible that your ISP is blocking access to torrent sites in which case you'd need to access them using a proxy.

Hi again, firstly, I use Vuze or Bit Comet, whichever I can find what I'm looking for. I still don't know what " link " you're asking for ( sorry I'm a novice at this ) If my ISP is blocking Bit Comet, where do I find out about proxy servers please ? thanks nottonto
The UnUsual Suspect
Try this link... http://thepiratebay.se/ ps. I didn't suggest that your isp was blocking bitcomet, I suggested that they might be blocking torrent sites.
nottonto
Try this link... http://thepiratebay.se/ ps. I didn't suggest that your isp was blocking bitcomet, I suggested that they might be blocking torrent sites. Hi again thanks for your help, I tried the link to thepiratebay.se, this provided a different response, "access to this website has been BLOCKED" (British recording music industry), web address on the notice was bpi.co.uk this is a different message to the one I'm getting from the bitcomet website This page can't be displayed Make sure the web address http://www.atcomet.com is correct. Look for the page with your search engine. Refresh the page in a few minutes. Check that all network cables are plugged in. Verify that airplane mode is turned off. Make sure your wireless switch is turned on. See if you can connect to mobile broadband. Restart your router. Fix connection problems is this the link you asked for ? nottonto
cassie
@nottonto, What is the URL (usually, it will start with http:// or https://, in your address bar) that you are trying to access? Copy and paste it in your next post, please - or, if you prefer, you may send it to either The UnsUsual Suspect or myself via a PM.

Hi Cassie, http://www.atcomet.com/url_view/www.sumotorrent.com/, http://www.atcomet.com/url_view/www.torrentbar.com/ , http://www.atcomet.com/url_view/www.torrentportal.com/ these are 3 of the sites I can't access, all other sites in BitComet are the same thanks for your help nottonto
The UnUsual Suspect
You are opening the web pages from within bitcomet so they are passing through a website operated by bitcomet called "atcomet.com". This website is currently down and there is nothing you can do but wait until it's fixed. You also have the option to visit these sites directly in your browser but it appears that your ISP is blocking some (or perhaps all) torrent sites. If none of these torrent sites can be visited directly then your only option would be to use a proxy in order to visit these sites. This is the most common way to visit blocked websites, however I'm not sure if I'll be able to help you and I don't want to sound insulting, but if you need instruction in order to do something like copy a link, then I think you're probably going to need someone to help you in person on how to find and use a proxy, but if you want to try on your own you can start at proxy.org, it's a free search engine that will attempt to open any link using a free http proxy. It may take several tries to find one what works for what you want to do. Good Luck
