downloading speed

Hi everyone,

I want to know does uploading increases download speed, I mean suppose I have an adsl/dsl modem/router and a connection speed of 32 kbps(dynamic/static), will I get more than 32kbps speed(with a 50/100 or more seeded torrent) while downloading if I upload at a ratio 1:1. If yes how much speed could I gain or will the speed remain same no matter how much I upload.
