bit_comet .7
I want to know does uploading increases download speed, I mean suppose I have an adsl/dsl modem/router and a connection speed of 32 kbps(dynamic/static), will I get more than 32kbps speed(with a 50/100 or more seeded torrent) while downloading if I upload at a ratio 1:1. If yes how much speed could I gain or will the speed remain same no matter how much I upload.
XSTREM
You shall limit your uploadspeed when you download to 80%. When you are finish downloading, you can just unlimit your uploadspeed and seed to the file has been uploaded 100%. (1:1 ratio). Now you dosen't say if 32kbps is both Upload and Download. And if you mean 32kiloBITS/second then that's a very tiny connection.. I doubt you can download anything on a P2P network with that connection.. U dont get it do u ? my connection speed is 256 kbps, my download speed is 32kbps and upload speed in 20kbps and for ur info. with this speed no matter what the file size,it can be downloaded in a matter of hrs/days. I repeat once again, I want to know if my up/down ration is 1:1, will I get more download speed(than the given 32kbps speed) while downloading future torrent files
XSTREM
Hey, I am trying to help you here. Why are you being rude? I think you should learn a little about internet before sailing out on the big pirate-ocean. kbps = Kilobit Per Second. KB/s = Kilobyte Per Second -- U dont get it do u?
Dark_Shroud
8 bits = 1 byte ;) bit_comet .7, turn off all your p2p software & IM programs and do a speed test. http://www.dslreports.com/
bit_comet .7
Hey, I am trying to help you here. Why are you being rude? I think you should learn a little about internet before sailing out on the big pirate-ocean. kbps = Kilobit Per Second. KB/s = Kilobyte Per Second -- U dont get it do u? Hey xstrem I know that kbps = Kilobit Per Second & KB/s = Kilobyte Per Second. kbps is the net connection speed & KB/s is the down/up speed. My above post was just a typing mistake. I will rephrase so u can understand( if u can that is ) , my connection speed is 256 kbps and d/u speed 32 KB/s. Besides if I had limited idea about the net, I wouldnt be using p2p technology unlike the other noobs here who thinks they r the big fish.
Soraiya
>< Please keep it discussions to a low-profile here. I suppose xstrem was in a way trying to assist your issue. Anyway, back on topic ^_^. To determine your real maximum connection rates, you should use a bandwidth tester, like the URL Dark_Shroud pointed out to be 99.9% accurate. Theoretically - If your maximum connection speed is 256 kbps, then your maximum upload would correspondingly be 64 kbps, which converted to our normal terms: Max Download: 32 KB/s Max Upload: 8 KB/s In answer to your question, you will need to limit your max upload to approximately 6 KB/s. And Yes, by limiting your upload traffic, it does help to maximise your download speed. But please do use the dslreports.com to determine your connection rate. Oh man this is an absolutely dumb forum. Nobody here can understand a simple question. First of all my download speed is 32 KB/s and I have tested the speed a million years ago ( DID EVERYONE GET IT ?! , Obviously not ). I will once again rephrase the question in the most simplest way humanly possible for the last time: MY MAXIMUM DOWNLOAD SPEED IS 32KB/s . NOW IF I UPLOAD TORRENTS AT A RATIO 1:1 , WILL I GET MORE DOWNLOAD SPEEDS THAN 32KB/s WHEN I AM DOWNLOADING FUTURE TORRENTS OR WILL THE SPEED BE NOT MORE THAN 32KB/s NO MATTER HOW MUCH I UPLOAD Don't reply with some dumb answer like before if u don't ( or anybody else) know the answer. dimchopicha2003
hahahaha bit_comet .7 such a noob the reason most of the people here don't understand your question is because they are intelligent and can't imagine that there is such a big noob like you asking such a noob question: MY MAXIMUM DOWNLOAD SPEED IS 32KB/s . NOW IF I UPLOAD TORRENTS AT A RATIO 1:1 , WILL I GETMORE DOWNLOAD SPEEDS THAN 32KB/s WHEN I AM DOWNLOADING FUTURE TORRENTS OR WILL THE SPEED BE NOT MORE THAN 32KB/s NO MATTER HOW MUCH I UPLOAD Let me ask you something: If I have a 5 liters bottle full with 5 liters water will I be able to drink 6 liters from that bottle if I eat up one apple or If my car has 150km/h max speed will I be able to drive with 200km/h if I play some music in it. bitdave
Hahaha this was a funny thread. I think the original question was; does having a 1:1 ratio help my download speed go faster than my connection is capable of??? (This question makes no sense at all) The answer: No

Dark_Shroud
mrpopo, with no p2p programs or Instant Messenger programs running do a speed test to see what you are actually getting. Then you can set up bitcomet for your connection. Also, do you have a router in your home?

Soraiya
:dots: OK, before you start flaming people who are really trying to assist you with your issue, you should really understand how you phrase your question. The D:U ratio of 1:1, has NO effect whatsoever on your client, downloads, or anything at all. It is merely an indication of how much you have DOWNLOADED versus the quantity UPLOADED with that specific torrent. The answers to your previous question(s) have already been answered by me or other members of this forum. Now.... bit_comet .7 you have broken more than 1 rule in this forum. Please be aware of the fact that, swearing/cussing other members is not tolerated within this respectable forum. If you wish to do so, please go to other public, low-profile forums and try asking your question there. I doubt you'd actually get a decent answer. You will now be placed under suspension, under which we will monitor you for one month. Details are in your e-mail. Regards, Soraiya *Topic will now be closed, as issue is solved.
