connecting?.....

Recommended Posts

please help me! I'm totally confused! =_=

I'm a total newbie, Does anyone know how you connect BitComet?

It's status bar just says, 'DHT not connected'

Does anyone know what I should do?

And can anyone tell me what seeding is?

Thanks ^^

Hi,

It seems you need to learn alittle about bit torrent protocall first. Here is a link to the basics of bit torrent...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bittorrent

that article has links to anything and everything you could want to know about using bit torrent.

Please take the time to do some reading, so we can help you better in getting your client up and running.

However, that article in Wikipedia has far more info then I could put in a post here.

thanks, but I still can't figue out the problem! =_=

I've read the article and still have no clue! *maybe it's just me*

The torrents I'm trying to download have seeders. And have been downloaded by 4288 other people. what wrong with me?

Still sayd DHT not connected.

(feeling abit thick right now, it's probably something quite obivous, thatI can't figue out =_=)

PLEASE HELP ME!

edit: I've been reading around, and have found out it may be the tracker, I'm connecting to.

but I'm not entirely sure.

[The icon means that the tracker(s) you're connecting to is currently unavailable, or you do not have any trackers specified in that particular torrent download.]

DHT is a means for finding additional peers, which does not depend on the tracker to supply a list.

Most of the time, for most torrents, it's not necessary. Some torrents and trackers explicitly block it. But basically, you don't need it to successfully download most torrents most of the time, and you can ignore it, or simply disable it in your preferences.

If you want to worry about it at some future time, the issue is probably because your firewall's blocking UDP on your listen port.
