Dt7
I've been happy with BitComet up until a couple of days ago, when I noticed BitComet using a lot of my memory, causing problems when I opened a few more programs (for example, MSN MEssenger, Firefox, and Photoshop). I checked the Task Manager and noticed that when I start a BitComet download task, the memory usage of BitComet goes up from around 14,000k up to around 60,000k, gradually. At the moment its at 35,000k, still increasing. I've looked at some FAQs and seen that this problem can be caused by nVida firewalls or something; I don't have an nVida firewall however. I'm currently using ZoneAlarm, standard edition (not pro). Is this a cache issue? Can anyone help me with it?
bitdave
60MB of memory seems normal. The default cache size for Bitcomet is 50MB so when you add in what the program itself needs that equals about 60MB. If that is too much for you maybe you should try to get more ram its pretty cheap these days or just go into Bitcomets preferences and lower the max cache size to your liking. Dark_Shroud
Firefox is a notorious memory hog, same with Photoshop programs in general. Also ZA is a horrible firewall to use when using p2p programs. Uninstall it and use either the Windows XP SP-2 Firewall or you can try Kerio free version.
