Vsop
I use BitComet 0.70, with firewall* set ok, Sagem F@st 800 modem etc... I can't connect to ANY tracker (except DHT network which gives me a list of peers.....with no use of it, because I'm unable to connect any of them) There is one error: "Can't connect to tracker (10600)" I have tried changing listening ports, but that doesn't work. Anybody knows what might be the cause of my problems? *Because I've been using Win Xp sp2 firewall for quite a long time, I have noticed that it is (mostly) useless. What is the best firewall? (Forget about Norton Firewall, because it takes too much system resources)
Dark_Shroud
The XP firewall is actually quite good, its controls are just extreamly basic. You just have to set the exception and it will be fine. But if you want a strong firewall go with McAfee or Kerio. Kerio has a good freeware version, I have link in my sig. Stay away from Zonealarm as well as Norton. Just make sure you give BC server access and make a rule allowing TCP & UDP access to the net.
Vsop
This doesn't work. Now I know, that 10600 error is not caused by firewall. Does anyone know how to fix it (Can't connect to any tracker, 10600 error).
The UnUsual Suspect
This error could indeed be related to firewall. It is a general "timed out" error, meaning your client tried to connect to tracker, and was unable to. Could be many causes, from the tracker being offline, to being blocked by a firewall, or dozens of other reasons. Suspect
Vsop
I finally found out (at least I think) what is wrong. What does mean "Unable to Map Port". I will once again say, that it is not related to firewall.
