thecoose
Why is it that while BitComet is running and my gross Download is showing a total of 12k/sec and my Upload is 4k/sec, I can't use the internet for anything else. I have an adsl line with a tested 1.7mps down and 0.3mps up. I've use this software on 3 seperate PCs amd had the same result. What can I do to stop the bandwidth hogging for such a small need? I can't even open a simple web page such as google.com. Thank you for your time.
The UnUsual Suspect
The solution is to limit your upload and download to leave enough bandwidth for your surfing. You can set your global max setting in preferrences, or you can set the torrent it self when opening, or after being opened. Also keep in mind that your isp measures in "b" bits, and your client measures in "B" bytes. 8b equals 1B. Suspect
franpa
can the minimum upload setting be reduced to 2kb? as 3kb kinda kills surfing for dial up users and thos that use 256/64k internet.
waldgeist
I'm having exactly the same problem -- but throtteling BitComet does *not* help.
bitdave
This question and more is answered in the Settings Guide (link in sig below) franpa, why dont you just try setting it at 2 KB/s??? -if it wont let you then maybe add this to the suggestion forum (though BT isnt really made for dialup users) 64 Kb/s upload should be able to handle 3 KB/s If your on dialup make sure that you disable the DHT Network and dont forget to restart Bitcomet after changing this setting.
