hbo
Hello, I am having a strange problem with BitComet and even my ISP was not able to help me out with this issue so here I am asking for the help of you tech guys. First of all my info: I am on: 256 KBPS Broadband Line :P My OS: Windows XP with SP2 B) System: 2 GB Ram, 250 GB HDD Problem: I am using Bitcomet from a long time and never had any problem till this date. I have downloaded more then 150 GB Data till date with Mam Download Speed of 28 KBPS and Max Upload Speed of 28 KBPS. From Last 7 Days or so I am having issue with my Download Speed using Bitcomet. It started giving me Download speed of only 10 KBPS combined for all Torrent Files. Right now I have 6 Torrents in download list with more then 100 Seeders per torrent. :o What I did To Solve This Issue:  1: Re-installed BitComet 3 times 2: Checked all settings (don't tell me to check my download and upload speed in setting, it will make me laugh) 3: Downloaded and installed other BitTorrent Client 4: Changed Ports Many Times 5: Called my ISP and asked the dudes if they have blocked my ports (They didn't) Phew! Same problem. My ISP dudes came and showd me that I am getting 28 KBPS (my max) using Direct Download. They downloaded come crap from Microsoft Website and it was giving normal speed of 28 KBPS. So here is the problem.. No Speed Using BitComet and Normal Speed Using Direct Download From Some Server. Can Anyone of you help me out with this issue? I am not sure why I am getting only 10 KBPS download speed combined! IT is supose to give me 28 KBPS like it used to. Thanks, San
kluelos
You might want to explain a little about your setup. Are you using a router? Which one? Firewall? Which one?

bitdave
On a symmetrical 256 Kb/s connection you should only be running 1 or 2 torrents at a time. Your global max upload rate should be about 24 KB/s Your global max upload slots should be at 6 Your max connections per task should be around 40 You might not want to have the DHT Network enabled all the time Since you have no router it doesnt matter what port you use(though I suggest picking one in this range 50000-65000) Just to make sure, you are getting Remote connections right? After you make sure your settings are similar to what I have suggested then download this torrent (dont have any other torrents running) What are the speeds you get for that? Dark_Shroud
Mcafee Firewall with full access to Bit and P2P. Make sure McAfee's firewall level is set at "tight." This is the best setting to use with p2p in general. 2007 has an awesome "stealth" setting but it really slows down p2p traffic.
