bt007
need recommendation for buying a wireless router+modem for ADSL connection. Many thanks!
Dark_Shroud
Your ISP shoud normally give you a modem. As for routers I'd recommend the Linksys brands. But it depends on what you want. If you want to load a linux fireware then get the WRTGL as it has huge memory. If you just want normal then get the WRTGS.
kluelos
Specific recommendations aren't worth much because manufacturers change models very often, even when the change is trivial. It's more important to try to buy from somewhere with a good return policy, if it turns out to be defective or a model with problems. When you do have a potential choice, look for it on portforward.com to make sure it's one they cover, should you need help setting up port-forwarding. Reviews and complaints usually aren't much help, because many complaints are due to pilot error rather than a real problem with the device; and because you'll find complaints about nearly every model and every manufacturer. All of these should be taken with skepticism, making sure the complaint really is valid.
