Cadeau
Hey guys, I recently read the BitComet settings guide and I followed it and right now the download speed of my files are really fast. But the problem is when I check the peers tab, they are all "Local". It says in the setting guide that if they are all "local" and no "remote" then my listen port is blocked. The two files I'm dloading rite now is really popular ( anime XD) so I'm assuming someone close to my area is downloading it too, thats why I can download it. When I try downloading another less popular file, it doesn't connect with anyone. Can anyone help me solve this problem and help me fix my listen port? Thx! P.S. I'm using an INEXQ modem with a cable connection. (I have alrdy done portforwarding)
The UnUsual Suspect
test your listening port here... http://www.canyouseeme.org/ if it's not tested as OPEN, then you either didn't forward correctly, your IP changed, or something is blocking it. Cadeau
Thx for replying. ^^ Anyways, when I use the website, it says "Error: I could not see your service on 74.108.4.171 on port (21411) Reason: Connection timed out". So ya...I'm confused. >_< (Sorry, I'm not that great with computers) Anyways, I'm almost 100% sure that my router has something to do with this because this has never been an issue until I connected it (when I got new comp). (I also disaboed DHT network, cuze If i don't, dload speed is really slow) I hope I have given enuff info for someone to help me. Thx again. EDIT: I did it again and now it says "Error: I could not see your service on 74.108.4.171 on port", so to fix the IP address and stuff, what should I do? bitdave
Which inexq modem do you have? What firewall / antivirus software do you have? either you did the portforwarding wrong, you didnt set a static LAN ip for your PC, or you have a software firewall still blocking incoming connections. Cadeau
I have the inexq ISW050t router and my modem is a Motorola SB5100. (sorry about last post, had a typo) My anti-virus software is NOD32. Regarding the thing you said about the static LAN ip for my PC, it might be the problem because my friend (a while bacK) was shocked that I could go online and stuff with my IP address. However, I don't know how to fix the problem. :( I don't think I have any other software firewalls besides the windows firewall (which I turned on). Also my router has a firewall but I turned it OFF. I hope with this additional information someone can help me! Thx! :D
bitdave
You should turn the firewall in your router back on. Have you already gone through this guide for your router (its not exactly yours but yours should be similar) Also NOD32 may be blocking Bitcomet you need to add Bitcomet to the exceptions list, see here Also here is a nice complete guide for NOD32 Im also assuming that you have the option in Bitcomet checked which automagically adds Bitcomet to the Windows Firewall exceptions list
