Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since I have installed BitComet, my internet connection is failing periodically and I can not download torrents more than 30 minutes or 1 hour max.

Is there a problem with BitComet setting ? Can you please advise me?

Thank you very much for advance.

Hi, Since you seem to have a good knowledge of english, I'm going to remove your posts in the french section, as it only creates work for our translators (which is unnecessary).

I would need to know more about your internet connection to give you a proper answer. For starters, do you use a router? If so, you might want to update your firmware. I would also try lowering your max connections in bit comet. Some routers will reset if they get too many connections.

Hello,

I apologize Cassie and Suspect. :sorry: I just wanted to get a help from somebody as I am tired with my bloody problem. Thank you for your replies.

Further to your question Suspect, yes, I use a wi-fi router to get connected to internet. However, I never had such problem before I installed BitComet. Furthermore, the connection icon at the low right of the screen shows NO cut for internet ! It's crazy. But impossible to surf on internet. :(

What is firmware ? I didn't understand the end of your message Suspect. Can you please explain.

Thank your again for your help. ;)

See you soon.

Your router has software on it, this is the firmware.

To upgrade it go to your router manufacturers website and see if they have updates for your particular router, they should also have directions on how to do the update.

I think this post will help you understand your situation

I would like to add if your ISP uses PPPoE or PPPoA then another thing which can cause disconnection is the MTU rate of your router.

If the suggestions in the link I posted dont help and your ISP does use one of these connection types,

then in the router look around in the WAN section where you put in your ISP user name, password, etc.

For many routers you can adjust the MTU rate here as well.

You might want to call your ISP and see if they can tell you the proper MTU rate to put in.

For PPPoE the max it can support is 1492 but for some ISPs you must lower this further(I have mine set at 1472).

For PPPoA i believe you have to lower it even more to about 1452.
