DirtyDerek
Heya, I was wondering if it's possible to change the maximum number of seeders, for example in this screenshot it says that I've connected to 14 seeders out of a maximum of 14. It just sounds like common sence if the maximum was higher that what it currrently is, I could download at a faster rate. My internet speed is 24000/1000kbits a second, so I should possibly be downloading at a fater rate than 60-70KB/s for three torrents, I just thought that this maximum seeder issue would be the problem. Thanks in advance, Derek.
The UnUsual Suspect
Hi Derek, Here is what is required to add one additional seeder to the torrent. 1 computer and user, 1 dedicated Internet connection, 1 complete set of files in the torrent. so, as you can see, its not a settings issue, its the amount of people sharing the files. Regarding your internet connection, you do have a very good connection speed, and you should be able to see much faster speeds if configured properly. There is nothing I could put into a forum post that would come close to the details that are in our settings guides, so I strongly suggest you read through them, and take your time. I'm not sure if your using a router, but if you are, your listening port will have to be properly forwarded. I also think your max upload speed might need to be reduced a bit. I see you are uploading at 91kB/s (equal to 728kb/s). I that is the highest it goes, and is set to "unlimited max upload", then reduce it by 20%. Also, I recommend users only run one torrent at a time, as by running mulitple torrents is the primary reason for slow download speeds. However, you do have much higher upload speed then most people have, so running two torrents is reasonable. For purposes of testing, and tuning your clients, you will want only one running. Once you have figured your highest upload speed, then reduced it by 20% (if your max is 100, then set to 80). Go here, and try one of these torrents... http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/index.html I was able to get over 700kB/s, but you could possible get much higher. In fact, I would love to know what speed you can get. Suspect ps. don't substitute this post for fully reading our settings guides
DirtyDerek
I've changed my max upload speed down 20% to 80KB/s. I'm not sure if your using a router, but if you are, your listening port will have to be properly forwarded. I am using a Router, and from what you said I don't think mine is properly forwarded, I think in Preferences in BitComet it's just on a random port, how can I properly forward it? There is nothing I could put into a forum post that would come close to the details that are in our settings guides, so I strongly suggest you read through them, and take your time. Where are they? :| http://forums.bitcomet.com/index.php?showtopic=533 Wait, found it, I'll have a read right now. Once I find out how to properly forward my router and finished reading and modifiying settings I will test out that OpenOffice torrent and gladly tell you what speeds I get. So yeah, if someone could tell me how to properly forward my router that would be great. :)
