brianbhood
When I try to open the new version 0.79 it won't open and gives me this error message. It also asks me to type in what I was doing at the time and send in a report. Nothing else was open, this program is not working properly. If anyone has ideas how to solve this, I would be greatful. Thanks!
MR-DIAZ
If i was you i´d uninstall .79 and revert back to the last stable Bitcomet .70 you´ll find that should solve your problem.

Thanks! I already tried that. No version will work on my computer anymore. None will fire up, I get the exact same error with each version. I also have not touched my router or firewall settings since I uninstalled the .77 version and tried to install the .79 version.
The UnUsual Suspect
It is possible that your computer is infected with addware/spyware or viruses. Or could be a corrupt registry, or operating system files. I would try completely uninstalling bit comet (copy your download folder to a different location, and be sure to copy any incomplete .torrent files too), then uninstall, and delete the bit comet folder. You can also use an uninstaller program like "your uninstaller". Now you can make a clean install of a stable version .70. If that doesn't work, then we can see what our support team has to offer, but you might need to reformat and reinstall windows (worse case). I appreciate your suggestion, but I've already tried that. I completely uninstalled BitComet, deleted all references from the registry, etc. I've done with all the various versions and none work. I can't believe I would need to resort to a drastic measure like reinstalling windows. There must be some explanation. I have not done anything to the firewall or router. This should be something simple, at least I would hope.
kluelos
It does depend on your definition of "simple". The problem may indeed be very simple. But simple to find? That's a kettle of fish of a different color. You can look over the details of the error message, and see if you're getting consistent problems from a single dynalink, then try replacing that with the version extracted from your Windows CD. That may affect other upgrades you've done, so you will want to at least reinstall all security fixes. You may want to check the memory location where the error occurs, if it's at a consistent point, because that also may provide hints about the problem. If you can tie it to video memory, for example, then it's probably pointing towards a video driver issue.

I define simple as something that doesn't involve reloading Windows, reformating my harddrive, or something that will fix this problem but cause five other programs to not run properly. How do I do all the steps you've suggested? What are the procedures and how do I know I won't be screwing something else up in the process? Thanks. kluelos
If you have to ask how, you lack the training to do it, sorry. That leaves you with reinstalling Windows, which isn't really all that traumatic unless you end up having to wipe it completely. But you should be able to do a reinstall without also having to reinstall all your applications &c. You've got something thoroughly unstable or misconfigured, and that's your best option to put it right.
