mikeharbo
Hey, I just got this program today on recommendation. I'm used to p2p programs like edonkey where the file and it's status are clearly displayed. I'm having trouble figuring out the download process. I've gone to a site and selected a torrent and opened it in bitcomet, but it wont seem to download, it's stuck at 0kbs. Also, I'm used to having a designated folder with files to share with other users. How do I share all the files I have with other bitcomet users, can I just designate a path or folder like p2p applications? As you can tell I'm very new to this type of file sharing, any help would be appreciated. Thanks...
Const2k
Man, you really shoul read something before asking such a question... Try this (thanks to bitdave): BitComet FAQ BitComet Settings Guide P.S. (you risk getting "LOL! RTFM!"-type answers...)
ZikO
Try to read this, first: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/gu...to_bitcomet.cfm I think it will help you enough to understand BitComet if you used eMule (or something like eMule) before. And then go to FAQ and help which Const2k has indicated. About sharing look at this topic http://forums.bitcomet.com/index.php?showtopic=588 You ( :) ) should quickly get the idea of torrent net :). Hey, thanks for the help. I read about 4 different guides now and my downloads are finally working. I also created a few torrents, so I think I'm sharing several directories now that I keep music and video in. I went to the "create" button in the taskbar and specified wich folders etc. and these paths show up now when I click on "seed only" in the left hand window. Does this mean that I'm now sharing all these files with other users? Also, my downloads are listed under "leech only", does this mean that I'm not sharing anything and just leeching?! It says in the user guide that a leecher is "somebody who is downloading the file, but has either cracked their upload or limited it so much they are barely uploading at all. These users are called leechers because they just grab their files and go." I have no limits on my uploads at all, and am all for sharing as much content as possible. I can't seem to find any specific answers in any guides. Thanks, Mike

Does this mean that I'm now sharing all these files with other users? I think you should upload your torrents to any trackers e.g. this one metioned before. I'm sorry but I didn't have to upload any torrent, so I can't help enough. It's only theory from me ;) Also, my downloads are listed under "leech only", does this mean that I'm not sharing anything and just leeching?! As long as you set upload in good condition, you don't have to worry about it; torrents downloaded from internet and opened in BitComet are managed by this program, which does a lot of work for you, such as e.g. uploading and sharing with the others. The only thing you need is to keep balance and ratio between downloading and uploading or if you finish downloading, it's good to upload at least 150% what you have downloaded. Seeders are people who have 100% of file and only upload. Peers are those who have less than 100%, so they download and upload. Leecher is everyone who download everything and delete the file as soon as it's finished. It kills torrent and lead to situation that nobody has 100% of data. You don't have to set max upload because it'll stop your internet. Read this: http://www.p2pforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=99434#99434 Regards.
