I would like to add a couple more members to the staff here in the next month or so.
If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to offer.
I think it would be great if we could find another tech support member, but I haven’t seen any members here that I’m impressed with (that I haven’t added already) hehe
I have a couple guys that I might consider, but they aren’t bit comet users, so I will hold off for now.
Regarding moderators, I spoke to Laurent (LpubV), our french mod, who is glad to help when he can, but I think running the french section is as far as he wants to commit to.
Since we are having so much spam in the forum, I gave him a “secondary” member group as a global moderator, this means he can delete the spam if he comes across it, but it won’t show in his member group.
I have also asked one of our admin at tus to stop by from time to time and help out in the same way. I’m considering adding him as a mod too, but again he is kept pretty busy with running tus.
We could ask mGa over at P2PForums if he’s willing to mod here as well, since most of the noobs go here instead of there now. (He’s the co-moderator of the BitComet forum over there.) I’ll ask him if you like.
I did want to ask if Laurent wants us to be monitoring the French tech support forum as we do for Cassie? We’d need him to translate to/from for us, but I’d be happy to help if he needs us.
Feel free to talk to mGa, if he is interested, ask him to join here, and send me a PM
Regarding Laurent, he has been asking me for assistance “as needed”, but now that he has access to the tech support section, I can have he ask his questions there, so we can all help.
I did suggest that he could translate the posts for us to answer, but I think he is able to handle most questions pretty well on his own.
I think I have filled the two Global Moderators (smod) positions.
I would like to hear anyones thoughts regarding this, if you have any opinions.
$triker, or Striker. He is a great guy from Canada, a family man with small children. He is also a TUS encoder, and formally on my support team as well. I recruited him to help at seedler’s forum last year, then he joined our support team at tus. Since then he has shown a great ability to learn and adapt to many technical challenges. He learned video encoding and was promoted to “encoder” in a short time (many have, and continue to work to achive this status and fail). My hopes are that he will learn bit comet and someday will advance to support team (assuming he has the time and desires this).
HeinousKyle. Kyle is a young guy from michigan, and a Linux geek. I recruited him to our support team at tus, where he as been a great help. Although he doesn’t use windows much anymore, I’m sure he will be a help with technical issues here, and I plan on making a “Linux” subsection in our “non bit comet” related forum. He is also the only one of my friends that has a higher IQ then me (that I know of). He also has a support section at diesel downloads.
Please feel free to comment, and make them feel welcome.
I’m still not against the idea of adding additional members, if someone is reliable and qualified.
I added striker and kyle because I know and trust them both, and they are very capable, and over qualified to be mods. Ironically, our upgrades in the forum seem to have stopped the “spam bots”, so the additional staff isn’t as urgent as it was (thank god), no, (thank aimee) lol
He seems quite active on the forum, and might be a good addition to staff. I don’t think more staff is urgent now, but its always nice to have good peeps on board to make sure our members get a speedy reply, and any future spam problems are dealt with in a timely manner.
I think Meverick is a pretty nice guy, who’s always willing to help out others (offering guides, links, etc.).
Yes, he is quite active and is usually one of the first ones to try out the new versions/ features, and report any “gliches”. He also doesn’t appear to be (at least, to me) a “kid messing around” and always replies with both courtesy and respect.
Please Comment on Emperium being added as a moderator here.
He has expressed a willingness to help us in the forum, and was quite helpful with updating the wiki page.
I’m also considering having him work on the bitcomet wiki as well.
I would like all staff involved in these decisions, rather then just adding members. Pending we can all agree on this, I will be making him an Smod, which he is more then qualified to be. Perhaps in time he could move up to tech support. I would prefer to have our support team select new members. I will be keeping an eye out on his posts to see if his tech knowledge is up to par, so please do the same…
