I would like to suggest BitComet to automatically update to the latest version before starting. Similar to a browser. E.g., Google Chrome.
To update it has to connect to the server. Browsers also need to connecvt to the server in order to update.
The only difference with BC is that it asks if you want to install the update - browsers just install witjhout asking
If you don’t need to ask. Or ask the user to grant the auto update permission once. Then you can have much more control over your application. Similar to the browser or Windows 10 automatic update.
You won't see as much people running outdated Bitcomet application. Sometime as old as 1.22, 1.5, etc. (I jsut check a few from my peers today)
I can’t understand why a pop up on the screen asking if you want to download and install an update is suiuch a problem. It’s common in a LOT of applications and the only ones I can think offhand that don’t ask are browsers. Even Windows will ask if you want to install an upgrade
I leave my BT computer running 7/24. Sometime I only look at the computer once a week to make sure it is not crashed. If the update can be done automatically. I have one less thing to worry about.
It simply will never happen. There are choices to be made on any update that require a manual response.
As I said before, auto-updating simply doesn't happen in the majority of instances for any app. Even Windows itself doesn't do that
