bitcomet freezes my internet

for the last month every time i open bitcomet my internet connection

stops. i have to reset my modem and then it starts.

i am behind a router edimax BR 6524n AND THOMSON modem

i use win 7 and have a 12 meg speed.

i have replaced the router and it does not help.

It would help if you posted all the info requested in the “Read This Before Posting” link from the top of the page.

SORRY;

i am using bitcomet ver 1.21

and i am using a cable link through

a router EDIMAX br 6524 n and a thomson digital broadband modem.

i have forwarded my port.

my main computer (hp laptop) is connected

by LAN to the router and 4 computers connect

WIFI (not very intensivly 1-2 in paralell max)

i am using win 7 prof. and my antivirus + fierwall

is norton 360.

my bitcomet is set to download unlimited.

after all this i have been experiencing net breaks to

the extent that i need to reset the modem and start again.

i have run a speed test and my connection gives 10-12 mbyt download

and 800 kbyt upload. i have replaced my router and no change.

thanks for any aid

Are your speed test results in bytes or bits (i.e. 12 Mb/s or 12MB/s)?

Have you capped your Max Upload Rate at 80% of your network connection’s upload capability?

Make sure that you acknowledge that BitComet uses bytes not bits to measure bandwidth.

Define “net breaks”. Do you lose connectivity for any program or just for BitComet?

Internet speed 12Mbs download

0.99 upload.

cut means total no connection

capped the upload at 600 kBs

What’s the model number of the modem?

tcm 425

I’m not crazy about quoting myself, but I DID warn you about the difference between bits and bytes, didn’t I?

Make sure that you acknowledge that BitComet uses bytes not bits to measure bandwidth.

If you have 0.99Mb/s upload bandwidth that means 990kb/s which equals 120kB/s. 80% of that is 96kB/s which is no where near your 600kB/s.

The only documentation links I can find for that modem are dead – not just the link, the whole site, dead and redirected elsewhere.

I strongly suspect that your problem is in that modem. If you can, obtain a replacement, even a loaner to see if the problem goes with it.

thanks, i will replace the provider
