could anyone explain or point out where I can fid the explanation for the disparity between the download rate in the torrents list and the sum of individual download rates.

from your screenshot, I can’t see if there are more peers that are listed as downloading.
Perhaps you could list then by their download speeds, or simply scroll down to see if there are more peers uploading to you.
