how do i convert mp4 files please

:stuck_out_tongue: Gooday my friends once again iam asking for help ihave a mp4 file and i want to convert it into an avi file or straight to dvd tried winavi no joy, hopefully you may have a few good programs to try, thanks for your tme nashy B)

you can type "mp4 converter into google, and dozens of links will show up, just pick one.

However, if you have the right codecs, most encoding software will convert mpeg4.

Although, your not going to be very happy with mp4 converted to watch on dvd players. this mpeg standard is designed to playing on very small screens, such as psp, ipod and such. It would be best to download a different source.

If you want to know what codec is needed for your video, there is a free program called “Gspot” which will tell you what codecs you need for the video.

Regarding codecs, our support team recommends CCCP, which is a great codec pack, but I’m not sure if its going to help with encoding (which is what you are trying to do), so you might want to install “k lite” pack, which has nearly any codec you could want. However, its very easy to screw up your system if you install conflicting codecs, so its not for beginners.

Both of these packs are based on FFDshow codecs, come with media player classic, and the klite “full” also has Gspot.

CCCP (best for playing of files)

k lite codecs (best for playing, editing and encoding)

if you select the k lite pack, don’t just install all the options, or you will surely have problems (default settings work fine for nearly every user)

Before you install either of these, you might want to uninstall any other codec packs you have already installed.
