Hello,
when I download files for programs or games there is a blank square icon next to the file name and when I try to click on it, it asks me how I want to open this file? I think they are .exe files.
I have donloaded several programs and games such as nero, vegas, etc. and I can’t run them!! it’s very frustrating because I could simply open and run programs when I had windows xp. Music and video files play just fine, but not the programs. Please help!!
thanks,
Justin
I suggest you set your folder options so you can view file extensions so you know what kind of files you have.
Also, are you using magnet links or downloading the torrents files?

In the folder options “file name extensions” is checked. Under the type of file column, all it says is “file”
I am using magnet links.
There is a problem where if you start a torrent downloading before bitcomet completes the process of opening the magnet link the file extensions are lost. I don’t think it’s ever been fixed but I have been unable to reproduce the problem. What you can do to fix the problem after the download is to add the file extension manually. To avoid the problem, allow bitcomet time to generate the file names before you click to begin download, or simply use a torrent file instead.
One of the files I wanted to open was a .rar file. I only knew this because when the “create new bitorrent task” box popped up it showed the type of file. I would not have known this other wise. I wonder why it just didn’t automaticly recognize it as a .rar file.
The file extensions are included in the torrent file, not in the magnet link. Once the magnet link gets you connected to peers you are able to download the torrent file from them. This can take a few seconds so the only theory I’ve heard that fits the facts are that if the download is started before the file extensions are known, they will be blank.
If we were able to reproduce this error I’m sure development would find a solution, but every magnet link I try works as it should.
