No no no. VLC’s MKV splitter is ancient, meaning it barely works at all. This is one of the main reasons I can’t recommend that player at this point in time.
You want to keep your video/audio playback simple with one to two players with the same codecs working for both.
Just install CCCP, it’s a more user friendly and streamlined version of FFDShow. It will play back almost any file for you. It’s playback of Divx & Xvid is better than the official drivers. If you want to use it with Windows Media Player then select “no player” during the install or else use Media Player Classic. Click on my sig for the direct download link. B)
