Over the last few days, every time I exit Cometbird I get an error saying that a plugin is trying an illegal operation.
Has anybody experieced this? Or does anybody know the fix?

Given that there are hundreds of plugins available, and that there’s no central authority over them, it’s unlikely that anyone can help you without knowing which plugin is causing the problem.
Go to tools->Addons->Extensions and disable them one by one restaring cometbird every time. I’d start with the latest extensions installed by you.
I have a similar problem as well… I noticed “NPSWF32_11_3_300_265.dll” mentioned in the report, which, I believe, is the filename for the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (Version 11.3.300.265), so if you recently updated Flash Player, this is probably the cause. Uninstall Flash Player and download Version 11.2.202.235 (that’s the last one which worked fine), that should fix it.
If it isn’t Flash Player, then when you next see that message, see if there are any filenames mentioned, or better yet, take a screenshot, that should help.
