Hi
OS = Win XP SP 3 Updated
BitComet = V1.34
I am a newbe to torrent downloads. No downloads done succesfully yet. I have tried different clients as well.
BitComet is not connecting to the torrent servers I keep getting a port blocked error no matter what port I use or what torrent server I use. In the bottom right corner it keeps telling me that the port is blocked.
any help would be appreciated
Robert
I do not have a router I am connected to my ISP via a hub and wireless connector( not cell straight wireless to a tower)
This type of wireless connection unidirectional, you cannot receive incomming connection attempts, any such attempt will be firewalled by your provider. You can still use torrents, but this will cripple your performance. This is true with any type of p2p downloading, so the only good solution is to get a proper internet connection without this restriction.
I think we need a FAQ about this, anyone want to volunteer to write it?
It’s written in red at the very beginning of the Add Port Mapping to NAT Router topic.
He had a blocked port issue and this topic is on the main page of the Wiki.
If he didn’t manage to get to this one which was only one click away, I doubt he would get it into the FAQ which would be 3 clicks away.
